Story of Open Air Fitness

The Story of Open Air Fitness

Once upon a time there was a girl who stayed a kid at heart. This girl, Rachel, never outgrew playing and loving the outdoors. She always loved everything related to fun, fitness, and the outdoors. She never really got into the whole work-inside world that many others her age could do. Of all the jobs she’s held, the ones working in sports and recreation were her favorite. She wished that someday she could work in the fitness industry, but she also knew that her approach would be different. She would have to be outside and have unique, wild, and weird workouts. One day she decided to go for it – to start her own fitness business, since she saw that she just didn’t fit in with the whole gym approach or even with the “boot camps” out there.

In April of 2007 she left her job and started leading group outdoor workouts. Rachel was as happy as could be. She was doing what she loved and really helping people. She was determined to make her fitness program available to as many people as possible since most are priced so high that only a small proportion of the society could actually afford it.

Things got complicated with the city and permits and other craziness.  Rachel got crazy too. She ended the business of Open Air Fitness and just let anyone and everyone workout with her for free.

After a month-long trip to Palau and lots of time for reflection and life -evaluation, things changed again. Rachel no longer leads the outdoor group workouts or does any personal training. Rachel is still the girl who just wants to play and stay fit - in fact she's totally addicted. She is still found daily at the parks, beaches, streets, hills, and trails having a blast working out. Open Air Fitness is still here - Rachel's focus is now on providing the tools needed for people to workout on their own or with a workout buddy. She creates and posts weekly workouts that are absolutely free for any and all who want them. New workouts are posted every two weeks and Rachel has more ideas on ways to help people stay active, fit, and healthy. Keep an eye on the ever-changing world at Open Air Fitness.
