I know how it is when you see something new or different. The mind just gets filled a million questions that need answering. I didn't have time to cover all one million, so here's the answers to the top thousand or so.
Why are you offering free Weekly Online Workouts? Are you crazy, you could be making millions?
I really, truly am a nut about fitness. I love what it does for me in all areas of my life and I’ve seen it do the same for others. I believe there are a ton of people out there who want to get into better shape, but just don't know what to do. I also have a real pet peeve about the high cost of joining a gym or fitness bootcamp, or group exercise program. I want to provide the tools, the workout ideas, and make it so that anyone, regardless of their budget, can get and stay fit. Let’s make it accessible to as many people as possible.
How long do the workouts last?
The time a workout can take varies. Some days they are designed to be super-short and intense. Most of the workouts will take you anywhere from 40 to 60 minutes depending on what adjustments you may want to make.
How many workouts do you provide?
I post workouts for 5 days of a week. I label them Monday through Friday, but there's no reason you couldn't do them on any days of the week that suit your life. There will be a new Weekly Online Workout posted every two weeks.
How can I get the most out of these workouts?
Get a workout buddy! This is the key for most of us. We need someone else to keep us consistent, commited, and working hard. Tweak the workouts to fit your fitness level. Feel free to change things up a bit, especially in the second week. Then you'll know the workout and you can use variations of the activities or change up the distances, times, repetitions, or order. Keep it fun! Keep it fresh.
How hard are the workouts?
I like a good challenging workout so that’s what I put together. The things we do are challenging, but everything can be adjusted to make it tougher or easier. Everyone gets to workout at their own level. I really mix things up to make sure there is tons of variety so that our whole bodies get a good workout each week.
What is a typical workout like?
There isn’t a “typical” workout. And that is kind of the whole point. Doing the same thing all the time is not the best way to keep your body fit. It needs variety, shock, constant changes to keep it adjusting, which means getting stronger and fitter. Each day is intentionally different – variety is the key to keeping it all fun and challenging. There are some things you can expect though – your heart will get pumping, you will get out of breath, you will work on cardio fitness, lower body strengthening, upper body strengthening, and core strengthening. I am to make every workout a full-body experience and totally functional - enabling you to go out and live and play to your fullest.
What sort of equipment will I use?
What won't you use? You will use things that are found in whatever locations you choose for your workouts - like benches, trees, rocks, stairs, sand, walls, fences, and hills. You will also use familiar equipment like resistance tubes, bands, dumbbells, medicine balls, and jump ropes. You’ll also see some unusual things recommended like dice, a deck of cards, Frisbees, play balls, tires, ropes, and sticks.
Will I get a full-body workout?
I really combine activities so that large muscle groups get targeted every day. So if you really put out the effort, you will indeed get a full body workout.
How do I know if your workout are a good fit for me?
You can check out the Workouts section and you’ll get a good feel for my philosophy and approach to fitness. Then there’s even a page that describes the sort of person that would most likely enjoy my type of workouts. Other than that, just give it a try and see for yourself.
Who puts the workout together?
I do. I happen to be a certified personal trainer through AFAA, but even more importantly, I am just a lover of play, and fitness, and fun. You can find out more about me on the About page.
What happens on rainy days?
Well I’m not a meteorologist or anything, but, from what I recall, it’s all about water droplets getting too heavy for the clouds so they fall to the ground. Oh – you wanted to know what you should do when it rains? Workout! You’ll be amazed at how great you will feel when you conquer the elements. A little water never hurt anyone. It’s all about dressing right and then it’s not so bad – in fact it’s fun! You can also adjust any workout for indoors.
What should I have ready for each workout?
Water for sure. You might also want to have a mat or towel handy. I love to workout outdoors, so every workout is put together with that in mind. You will often do exercises and activities on the ground and not everyone is a big fan of the grass against their skin.
How should I dress?
Wear comfortable workout clothes. I really recommend layers. A good pair of shoes is probably the most important thing. I’d go with some good cross training shoe that gives good support for multi-directional use.
How does someone join your group?
Just download the workouts and see if our the workout is a good fit for you. Do them by yourself, do them with a friend, do them with a whole group.
Are there any forms to fill out?
Nope.
How much does it cost?
I don't charge even one dirty, little penny. These are the workouts I'm doing for the next week, and I just want to share them with others who are looking for a way to get and stay fit.
